After seeing a recent ad on Facebook for a new 80s reboot toon, then the angry, furious responses from every user, I had to jot down some thoughts. Now, I know I wasn't exactly a Rainbow Brite fan as a kid for obvious reasons, I was loving MOTU and Thundercats, but I actually have to say, people are over reacting to this Rainbow Brite reboot too much. Sure, it looks really... different, in that new, sarcastic, self-aware style, but it is 2015, and cartoons aren't the way they used to be. I mean, what hasn't been completely changed since the 80s? He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Thundercats, Garfield, Smurfs, Robocop, Terminator, and pretty much everything from back then has been continued or rebooted since the 80s, only to be nothing at all like the original. I'm not saying I like any of these reboots (or hate them for that matter too...though I do freaking hate some of those mentioned), but I'm not about to act like hell froze over because they happened. I know kids these days wouldn't want to watch the cartoons the way they were in the 80s, and that is mostly who they're trying to market to. Let's not forget that dozens of franchises people loved in the 80s, like Alvin and the Chipmunks and The Adams Family were older properties that were completely changed for the then-current audience. It's just the way it works. Twenty years from now all the cartoons on the air today will be rebooted and changed completely to fit the style for that time. And to be fair, most people who are flipping out about this show's physical and comedic style probably watch a million modern cartoons just like this all the time and love them. So, while I'm certainly not saying this reboot is good, I will say, let's all calm down about the whole "ruined childhood" bit. The show isn't even out yet, and while I have no interest in watching it, nobody's even seen it yet. All these bitter fans could end up loving it in the long run. Anyway, that went on way too long... I'm writing rants about Rainbow Brite at 5:30 in the morning... I need a life...

I just watched the Trailer...it's actually not bad at all.  I watched a bit of Rainbow Brite as it was my sister's favorite show when we were like...5.  I was 2-4 so it's all fuzzy to me, but eh I was too busy thinking the Go Bot's were the bees knees.

I mean a lot of these people that go ON and ON about these cartoons we loved as kids... I'll be honest some of these shows really don't stand the test of time, or being able to read past a 5th grade level.  Some of the reboots are utter crap- god I just don't want to see Ninja Turtles or Transformers get rebooted...again for the umpteenth time - it's like seriously? We we just drop it? You're confusing anyone that ever wants to talk about them now.
