The Powerpuff Girls

Description

It's the Powerpuff Girls! We all know the story - Professor Utonium wanted to make the perfect little girls (clearly he wasn't having a very good love life if he had to make his children in a lab) but accidentally added chemical X, transforming them into the super-powered, super-cute crime fighters, the Powerpuff Girls, attending Pokey Oaks kindergarten and saving the city of Townsville day after day... before bedtime. While I was never too fond of a large chunk of the shows CN had, I did find myself enjoying this show, along with Dexter's Lab and Cow & Chicken (though Space Ghost Coast to Coast remains the greatest original show they ever had). I haven't really watched the show (or channel) in over ten years, but this one was always good for some laughs. Despite most people referring to this as a 90s show these days, though, it never saw its official premiere until the late 90s (VERY late 90s), and it really didn't blow up into the global sensation it became until about 2000. The majority of its fame came in the 2000s, along with a film in theaters. I never saw much of the later episodes, but I remember the first couple of seasons pretty well.

This picture was actually already done a couple nights ago, but at the time I had bigger plans for it. I was toying with the idea of doing a much more in-depth coloring/shading job, but due to laziness and the fact that I thought the picture still looked pretty good as is, I decided "the show was really simplistic, so this simplistic art style is an homage to that". I also originally planned to have a mob of the series' zany and hilarious villains at the bottom of the picture, all glaring up at the girls menacingly, such as Mojo Jojo, Him, and Fuzzy Lumpkins, but I didn't like the way Mojo (first one I was drawing) was coming out and decided to scratch the villains, as well as Townsville, which was meant to be behind everything, out of the picture and just keep it simple. I'll probably do a more complex version of this picture in the future, with the villains and Townsville added, as well as a much more elaborate coloring job. As for my favorite part of the picture? I think Blossom came out the best. She's my favorite of the three anyway (she's so damn cute), so that's probably why she came out better. Enjoy, and hope you are looking forward to the deluxe version of this picture in the future.
