C-2 Judgment Clay (also known simply as Clayfighter 2), one of my favorite games of all time. I've been intending to draw this for a while now but just kept letting it slide. As anyone who played this highly underrated classic knows, all the fighters had evil twin counterparts as final bosses (which could all be playable by holding "L" & "X" and pressing "Up", "Up", "Select", "Up", "Up", "Right" on the main menu screen) . In this picture we have all of them - -Ice, Bad Mr. Frosty's even frostier nemesis. -Butch, Tiny's rival. -Slyck, Blob's slimier and oozier rival -Dr. Peelgood, the agile and adrenaline pumped contrast to the chilled-out Nana Man -Jack, the anti-social nemesis of party-loving Octo Head -Spike, the enemy of Googoo -Sarge, a military vet who opposites Hoppy -Thunder, a ferocious fighter who plays the part of nice old kangoo's worst nightmare Despite popular belief, I feel these were great concepts, and most of them are quite good to play with (Sarge, Slyck, Butch and Thunder are ranked as some of the highest on my list to use for C-2), not to mention none of them are direct clone characters as far as move sets go. Enjoy.
The coloring job is pretty crappy here, and that background takes away from the foreground too much, making it a confusing clutter. The backdrop should be darker and I should have used lighting to aid the appearance of the fighters stretching into the background.
I cannot lie, I sometimes like to play Clayfighters 2 as a guilty pleasure when I'm in the mood for a fighting game with a more zanier cast than a game filled with humans. My main in Clayfighters 2 is Octo, not just for the fact that he's adorable with his big feet and mischievous grin, but because he's also one of the easiest characters to play as, thanks to his hi-rising Octo-Spin. I stand a chance at winning tournament mode on the hardest difficulty with him.
To be honest, though, I found most of the evil clone twins to be a bit on the useless side. Sarge is almost as cheap and overpowered as Hoppy is, and Spike has a decent set of moves, and can really kick butt with his Rattle Smash move, but other characters like Slick and Dr. Peelgood seem questionably underpowered. Doctor Peelgood's buzz-saw banana is less useful than Nanna's projectile as it only stuns an opponent in place instead of knocking them down and back. He also has a flip kick move which isn't useful for much, and a dodging move that isn't useful for much either. And Slick doesn't seem to have many decent moves either, although I'm not sure I know every move. Mostly all I ever see is a projectile and a boot upper. The boot upper goes directly up as opposed to diagonally, with makes it harder to use. Blob has an upper attack that not only goes diagonally, but comes with an anvil drop too, much like E. Honda's flying sumo drop move.
You probably know more about this game than me, though. Can you give me some insight?
I actually think Slyck's amazing. His special moves are not as useful as his basic attacks. Blob and Slyck are my main two. I agree that Peelgood is flawed, especially since his slice is done so awkwardly. I find Nanaman, Thunder, Butch, Frosty, Hoppy & Sarge and Blob & Slyck to be the best for me, thouh I find Frosty to be very boring to play as since his style is basically a counter-style where you fight the battle in a seige waiting to catch the enemy off guard.
I loved the 1st and 3rd ones. Never got to see the 2nd. but regardless, nice tribute. I hope someday there'll be a new one. I love parody in any form and this was one of the best of all time for fighting games, and the tough guy image in general
I am really sad because I once had this game for my SNES but then I wanted Diddy Kong Racing for my N64 (because all video game magazines loved it) and I didn't have enough money so I traded my Clay Fighter 2 and two other SNES games for that game. Diddy Kong Racing was a terrible game, I hated it and I sold it to someone. I still miss my Clay Fighter 2. I loved Bad Mister Frosty and Octo.
