Here's another in my series of Zelda monsters, Dodongo. Everyone who's ever played Zelda pretty much knows what a dodongo is - a dinosaur creature that can breathe fire and is weak to swallowing bombs. I did all the different variations from Dodongo's Cavern in Ocarina of Time - the baby dodongos, the standard dodongos, and the king dodongo. While I obviously borrowed the most inspiration from the Ocarina designs, I also tried to blend in some of the original NES triceratops design, along with inspiration from various other dinosaurs and lizards. The Ocarina design is by far the best in my opinion, as in A Link to the Past they're pathetically small and look like orange Dino Torches (little Dino Rhinos from Super Mario World) and in Twilight Princess they just look like oversized geckoes rather than dinosaurs. The fact that they grow more legs with age in Ocarina is awesome too - the babies have no legs, the regular ones have two and the king has four. I also attempted to, through detail and coloring, create signs of age in some to destinguish how old each one is in comparison to the other. This one, in the end, is probably one of my favorites in the series thus far, though I guess drawing reptilian monsters is some what of a favorite of mine. This series is beginning to take way longer than planned (I wanted it to be done before summer was over) and I'm not even halfway through. This is due mostly in part to the fact that I've rarely even felt like drawing recently. I spend most of my time working, gaming and watching TV as of recent. Well, there will be more to come soon.
